Description: Yes! I went to Beijing to check out the Xiaomi LUX - Transparent edition. This tv is going to be all the hype as its the first commercially released transparent tv.. Is it any good though?? So this TV was on display in the Xiaomi store on the campus in Beijing where I could check it out for an hour and I had a good look at it. It's a 55 inch display, which is a nice size, and it's got a 1920x1080px resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The most impressive feature, by far, is the transparent screen and technology is very new. -This makes the screen be quite transparent on blacks. In full color, it's actually working very well. It's also quite glossy; which does give it quite some glare. (Depending on the space it's placed in and the viewing angle.) -I would say this works best in front of a black or grey wall, as that should probably give you the best viewing experience. So the technology is not 100% perfect but despite its small imperfections; it does look super impressive! It's great to see progress and innovation in this field. It does come with quite a hefty price tag: around 7000 USD, or 6000EUR. But in their defense: it's the first in its kind, it's super new (and impressive) tech, and it simply looks really really cool. So it's safe to say that this TV is not for everyone. But the fact they have managed to make this into a commercial product that actually WORKS is impressive and shows Xiaomi's dedication to actually innovate... and that by itself is great! So who is this transparent TV for then? Well...I could totally see this work in some designers' villa. I could see this work in some tech offices' meeting rooms. And I could totally see this work in sci-fi movies with some cool UI elements on the screen. Thus far this TV is only released in China, and I don't know if they have any plans to release this internationally. But the tech is here and hopefully, Xiaomi will keep on developing this in the future as it is exciting to see something fresh and new in this space! #Xiaomi #XiaomiLux #TransparentTv
